Frank Zappa played at Kerrisdale Arena on August 25, 1968. Gary shared his memories with us.
"It wasn't just a concert it was an event!"
"What I’ve done at the Kerrisdale Arena was watch my grandson,
Spencer Becker, play hockey, and that was for at least 2 or 3 years.
So I enjoyed the experience of watching,
that was a very positive experience for him… and for me!"
"I went there to skate and I am not a skater, never did skate
but I’ll tell you I fell more times than enough!
But I did enjoy it… I met a lot of people there, very nice people to speak with.
It has been a wonderful experience for me in the arena."
"I am a heritage person and I am very concerned about changes in Kerrisdale.
I like the idea of having the arena, I think that it is important that children and families have an opportunity to skate or to do other things.
I’m very much in favour of either redeveloping in the sense of keeping the heritage, but not combining it with the community centre. It’s really important to me that there is separate facilities around Kerrisdale to meet the growing needs of families and children, as well as seniors."
